I am so greatful that Sandy allowed me to see her journey as she walked through the depth of grief. In reading this candid account it gave me insight into my own grief after the death of my three sons.

This book brought me great comfort. I especially liked the final page of each chapter. Sandy creates a great sense of spiritual awareness. I couln't put this book down, it was for sure a must read. With Sandy's view on things this is one of ways to cope and continue to live on with the people here, on the physcial side, but know that our loved ones continue to be with us spiritually. I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!!!

Beautifully written, extremely helpful working through grief.

I read this book within 2 weeks after my son died in an auto accident on 8/13/08. I have since shared it with other friends who have lost a child, and with my siblings after our parents died. As a Christian, I believe that the soul lives on, and after reading this book I believe that love lives on as well. I have had personal messages that I believe come from my son, as well as messages through a psychic medium. What a blessing!
God bless Sandy for her strength in sharing her experiences, and for her guidance to others who tread the same long road after a tragic loss.

Sandy Goodman and her book "Love never dies" changed my life. My son passed away on 2/6/06 and i thought my world had also come to an end. I had gone to my church for help, it did not. I tried grief counseling, it did not help. One day i found myself in a book store and Sandy's book jumped out at me. I read a chapter in the store and thought, wow, this is a story about my life since my son passed. I bought the book and returned home. I sat down and read the entire book in one sitting. This book change my life. I had no idea it was possible to communicate with my son through a medium. But i did and now i know my son still lives. I then went on to learn to communicate with my son on my own just as Sandy was able to do. My world changed when my son passed but my world once again changed when Sandy's book came into my life. I have learned so much since Sandy's book. But she showed me what was possible and i will be forever grateful to her and her book "love never dies". She also has a web-chat for parents on wed. nights. We share our experiences and this helps so much. Thank you Sandy

I highly recommend Sandy Goodman's book Love Never Dies for anyone who has lost a child or a loved one.
I read "Love never Dies" a couple of months after losing my son. The book helped me journey through the most difficult and painful time of my life and gave me a renewed sense of hope and peace that my son still exists. Sandy Goodman's true story of a mother's loss and the relationship she still has with her son Jason left me believing that our loved ones are not gone but are still very much a part of our lives.
Sandy Goodman's book also led me to her wonderful and compassionate web-site and forum "Love Never Dies 4 U" It's been my life-line these past two years since I lost my son.

This is the best of the pilates books I own. The explainations and illustrations make the moves easy to understand and do properly. There are several one page charts for beginner, intermediate and advanced. I found these valuable for learning to flow through the routines without having to turn a page in the book for the next move. This is a great book for a beginner or an advanced user who wants to learn the proper form and get great results quickly.Pilates: Body in Motion

Good for beginners.

This is a well-illustrated, well-written book that explains the Pilates method and the origin of Palates. The pictures and captions make learning the basics very easy. I'm now ready to take a Palates class without feeling awkward and uncomfortable. I recommend it for anyone interested in training in Palates. A must book to read before taking a class.

Great tool for travel or when you miss the studio. I am just a pilates student, so having something to hold my hand and direct me is needed, so just flipping through the deck in the suggested order has been great. I don't think its a beginners tool because the descriptions somewhat assume you already know the basics IMHO. I had a cheat sheet I made myself with little drawings and notes, but this is so much easier.

This basic manual for Pilates is especially helpful because of the cautions about avoiding poor form while you're doing the exercises. The limitations of any book attempting to teach you how to do physical movements is offset by the authors' knowledge of what mistakes typical beginners make.

Not good for a complete novice.

I'm training for a certain activity and was told that Pilates would be great to do because many people in the sport do it. I knew _absolutely nothing_ about Pilates. I asked around at local fitness clubs but couldn't find any instructors. Lacking local instruction, I bought this book based on the recommendations here.

The many pictures and instructions for the actual exercises were very easy to follow. However, the information in the introduction (including an explanation of the 6 basic principles) left me so very frustrated and confused! The book says to flatten your lower spine against the mat ('neutral spine') by 'lengthening' your spine without moving your hips or other body parts...but that's physiologically impossible! Does she not understand the basic mechanics of the body? And 'scooping' is described as feeling like a corset being tightened around your waist...which is only helpful if you've worn a corset before. Since the book implies that the exercises do little good if you don't have these principles right, the good, clear instructions on the actual exercises are probably useless to me because I don't clearly understand most of the basic principles.

I also doubt some of the claims of Pilates now that I've learned more about the system. I'm sure the system works fairly well at 'core' strength training for most people who use it, but some of the other claims seem a bit mystical in nature. If you love this method, that's great. If you understand the basic principles of Pilates, then this is probably a great book for you. Otherwise, I just can't recommend this book. I'll stick with "Straighter, Stronger, Leaner, Longer" by Renee Daniels which works the 'core' muscles as well as every last bit of the rest of your body.

Hands down the best reference for saltwater fish

I absolutely LOVED this book when I had my saltwater tank. It was invaluable for selecting the right fish for my set up. (Great detail on behavior, aggressiveness, space needs, whether or not compatible with coral, feeding needs, etc.) And the pictures can NOT be beat! Now that I am doing freshwater, I am trying frantically to find a book that was even half as useful and I am somewhat hard pressed. This book is a must have in my opinion.

This is an excellent quick guide to help you learning more about salt water fishes. It not only helps you deciding what fishes you want next but is also a very helpful guide to carry when shopping for new fishes. You can easily identify fishes that you don't know, with a scale with 1 to 5 on how hard it is to have it at home and compatibility with other fishes and invertebrates.

The highlight of this book, in my opinion, is showing pictures of Angelfishes when they are both young and adults, as their pattern change completely.

Good quick reference

If you need a quick, comprehensive marine fish reference book this is the one to get. It is small enough to bring with you to the fish store and get a quick rundown on behaviors, ease of keeping, etc.

If you ask the fish store about a fish, they are probably looking in this book for the answer.

A Great Book on the Titanic

"Titanic An Illustrated History" is an excellent title for anyone who wants to know more about the Titanic from building the ship to the investigations into the sinking.

The book is around 225 pages, has numerous photographs and colorful illustrations, and contains around 12 chapters and focuses on the following main areas:

1. Inception and building the ship.
2. The maiden voyage and details of the sinking.
3. Evacuating the boat.
4. Rescue efforts and memorial services.
5. Investigations into the sinking.
6. Discovery the Titanic on the ocean floor several years later.
7. Some of the Titanic artifacts found during the discovery.

The narrative was smooth throughout the book and was very enjoyable to read. The book also served to dispel myths presented in the latest Titanic movie from Hollywood (1997?) that starred Leonard DiCaprio and others. In particular, while people of different social classes were pitted against one another in the struggle for survival in the movie, the book was full of examples of people who willingly sacrificed their lives so that others may live. While the movie was okay, Hollywood did seem to twist some of the facts. Thankfully, the book was more accurate.

Read and enjoy this great account of an unfortunate episode in maritime history. Recommended.

I have to agree with the previous review posted this is probably the best book ever published on the tragic Titanic. It is a beautifully illustrated history of the tragic liner from conception to her well documented demise and discovery in 1985. Ken Marshall's paintings bring the grand dame to life and also help to put into perspective the wreck as she was in 1994 when the book was first published. It is a must have for any Titanic enthusiase even if it is slightly outdated now.

Valuable Cancer Education

I hate diet/health book that are all menu and only fuzzy science. Everyone bashes "killer" white sugar, but this book tells you why it justifies the reputation, for example. That's what makes "Anti-Cancer" great. It articulates clearly the differing mechanisms cancer uses to take command of the body's immune system, and presents the latest research on what's effective against the attacks. After reading the book I created a PowerPoint presentation and made kids/family watch!

Excellent treatment of a complex topic

In my previous job as a copywriter, I was responsible for seeking out and writing about the latest findings in the field of health and wellbeing. As a trained nurse, I know how to read medical literature and I've developed a pretty good eye for what represents sound research and reasonable conclusions.

Given all that, I had pretty high expectations of this book, and I wasn't disappointed. The fact that the reference section takes up 28 full pages of a 243-page book shows that the book has been extremely well researched, and is not just the product of the author's own musings.

Dr. Servan-Schreiber has taken an extremely complex and controversial subject, studied reams of published research reports on it and drawn together a practical, down-to-earth list of suggestions for minimising one's chances of developing cancer, or giving oneself the best shot at recovery and survival if cancer does develop. There's nothing spooky or way out, and no inflated promises or false hope. It's just solidly researched, sensible information that we can all apply in our lives (and which I believe will enhance our lives, whether or not the spectre of cancer is on the cards).

Despite the volume of medical data included in the book, it's written in layman's terms, yet without being too simplistic. Further, it's a very moving book that has a lot to say about living and dying well. My personal view is that this book is a precious gift to humanity, written with compassion and insight, and I thank Dr. Servan-Schreiber for making this information available all in one place so non-medical people can benefit from the vast number of discoveries that have already been made in the search to unlock the mysteries of this frightening disease.

A couple of years ago, I interviewed David Servan-Schreiber on my radio show, "Turn On Your Inner Light" about his excellent book, "The Instinct to Heal." He did a wonderful job noting how exercise improves mood - naturally. After reading "Anti-Cancer" I see that he continues to inspire the reader with science and story. Shakespeare said it well, "Physician heal thyself." David takes it a step farther to help us heal and even better - to prevent disease. While there is no magic cure for cancer, we can all improve life quality, give our attention to building a healthy body and reduce the inflammatory process triggered by stress with a change in perception. We can all learn to build immunity to external pressure.I am the author of Addicted to Stress: A Woman's 7 Step Program to Reclaim Joy and Spontaneity in Life.

Anticancer: A New Way of Life

This book has been appealing to me both as a cancer survivor and a scientist.

Review Date: 2008-12-23
Dr.David Servan-Schreiber has managed to write a book that is informative, as well as personal. He details his own bout with cancer, and tells how it affected him both personally and professionally. The program he outlines in preventing cancer is based on extensive research, and his rationale for suggesting these techniques make sense. He goes against western medical tradition in that most medical professionals are more interested in treating existing cancers, instead of preventing them. In his philosophy of tuning into the mind-body continuum, Servan-Schreiber goes against the prevailing medical thought, but also offers a great service to people who may be at risk for cancer onset. As he points out, we all harbor potential tumors in our bodies, and this book tells how to prevent those tumors from taking hold and spreading. Those who follow his advice will be doing much to prevent cancer onset, of that I have no doubt.

When our son was diagnosed with Aspergers 4 years ago, I bought dozens of books on the subject. This one has been the best way to help educate family and close friends. It is NOT intended to be an in depth resource.

We read through it with our son, then 9, and edited it to explain his personal quirks and interests. (We just wrote in his personal quirks, or crossed out what he felt didn't apply). We then shared it with grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Over the years, there have been a few good friends we have shared the book with as well, and it has been an excellent resource.

It is important to remember with any book you purchase regarding Aspergers and Autism that people on the Autism spectrum are not "cookie-cutter-cases". Each person is an individual and no book will cover ALL aspects. This book is written in a childs voice and is very easy to understand. Are you going to walk away from reading it profoundly enlightened? No. Are you going to have a more simplistic understanding of the day to day situations and life of a child with Asp? Yes. I purchased this book for my son's grandparents, his older brother and for him. It gives him a voice and something to relate too (not on all issues, but most). The book is extremely easy to read and fast. I read through the entire book in under an hour while helping my son with his homework. A great addition to your personal and lending library.

Regarding Naturopathy's Science-Ejected CODED Vitalism Premise, 1997:

Kudos, N.D.s:

this book's 'page 4' & 'page 14' are perfect examples of 'naturopathy's antiscience M.O.' from their top echelon,

e.g., what I call "the epistemic conflation of a school of thought claiming to be scientific" -- but, actually NOT, per:

state that naturopathy is "science-based natural medicine" and that licensure involves being professionally competent in the "basic sciences" and "clinical sciences"; and, simultaneously, state that amongst naturopathy's central premises are:

a) "nature has healing powers (vis medicatrix naturae)" [vitalism{disguised/coded!!!}] and

b) spiritism [supernaturalism{explicit!!!}]

-- all under that 'professions-level science-based' label.

Yet, according to the AAAS [see [...] ](2007) -- that is, ACTUAL science:

"no aspect of science can address supernatural questions [p.020...] one reason that modern science has flourished since the seventeenth century is that it has limited itself to natural explanations alone [p.032]."

Yet, according to NCSE and NABT [see [...] ](1995) -- that is, ACTUAL science:

"science does not, in fact cannot, study, explain, or judge non-scientific issues or supernatural belief systems [like naturopathy!!!...] nonscientific notions such as [...naturopathy's!] vitalistic theory [...] cannot legitimately be taught, promoted, or condoned as science in the classroom."

When is science's footprint made so large that it includes the PROFOUNDLY nonscientific...

naturopathy.

When does a supposed 'profession' mislead and disguise / code its central science-ejected premise, therein annulling its 'professions-level {credat emptor} medical science position'...

naturopathy.

Caveat emptor.

This book is written by two naturopathic doctors who founded Bastyr University in Seattle, WA. Bastyr one of the only accredited naturopathic medical schools in the USA. It is set up by medical problem and explains what and how much of a natural health product may be used to help heal the problem. It simply explains the alternatives that your doctor may not be aware of. A word of caution: Do not self-diagnos. Please see your doctor first to be diagnosed properly. This book is authentic and contains natural medicines that are as powerful as any prescription drugs! Before using anything in this book discuss its use with your physician. If you are taking any medications and use a natural product it could cause an adverse reaction. I highly recommend this book to everyone who wants to seek out the alternatives for a healthier life and lifestyle.

My younger one seems to like the pictures and of course, just sitting and listening to mommy read. She eats other vegetables, though. I bought this book because she liked it when we checked it out of the library, not to teach a moral lesson.

We both think it's really funny that Little Pea has to eat candy in order to get spinach, and the illustrations of Little Pea's day are perfectly well done.

I definitely recommend it.

A must-read for owners of cats with urinary or kidney problems. Debunks the vet-prescribed diet and suggests wet-food options to improve health and moisture intake. Makes so much sense -- No dry food for cats who need to increase moisture intake. Discusses the byproducts put into many cat foods (wet and dry) and how they can damage your cat. Provides healthy wet-food recommendation links (and yes, some are from the grocery store -- no need to spend a fortune). Very readable and informed.

I originally borrowed this book from the library after my cat was diagnosed with diabetes. I was in search of information on how to help him and discovered this wonderful book. I had to buy it.

I started the diabetes protocol feeding him only meat based food without fillers like grains, glutens, and vegetables, and it turned him around completely! He's never had any insulin injections, and despite the vet's diagnoses that he may never walk normally again, he regained normal walking completely from walking on his forelegs in pain due to the diabetes.

Without Dr. Hodgkins book, we would have never known that feline diabetes is a man-made disease that comes from a poor diet. The book was well written and very easy to read. I think every cat parent should have a copy of this book. It was a true life saver for us!

Your Cat: Simple New Secrets to a Longer, Stronger Life is an excellent book outlining all aspects of cat care from proper diet to the vaccine debate. She debunks the common misconceptions about "prescription" diets and other dry food. It contains concise up-to-date advice and information on many of the common feline ailments, such as diabetes and hyperthroidism. A must have for every one who has a cat or is thinking of getting one. Also a great gift idea for the cat lover in your life.

Another triumph for common sense!

I only gave the book four stars rather than five because it's pretty repetitive and does not exactly read well. The message is presented on almost every page: "If this is what's wrong with your cat, feed it meat." But I suppose if the book is used as a reference book rather than something to be read in one sitting, it's an excellent resource.

A few years ago I adopted a street kitty who must have starved for much of his life because his "hungry button" was broken. He could not get enough of the crunchies. He gained a bunch of weight and then we noticed that he had become a water-drinking maniac: he would drink for 15 minutes in a row. His vet suggested that he was pre-diabetic and that I switch him to diabetic cat food. He didn't like it. I stopped the crunchies thinking that he could do without the carbs and switched to non-grocery hippie dippie canned food, the stuff with the cranberries, etc.

It didn't take very long for the weight to drop and for his coat to become very silky and smooth. And he hardly ever drank water again. I mean never! It was amazing. His good health was obvious.

About a year after I changed his diet, the pet food contaminations occurred and we all started to learn what's really in those crunchies: sawdust and other non-nutritious dust pressed into shapes then sprayed with rancid aerolized grease. Gross.

And now I think I will switch to frozen raw stuff only and cut out the cranberries altogether. When left on their own, cats won't touch cranberries!

This book contains great information that's based on a careful look at how and what cats really are and that questions the "facts" forced upon us by Big Pet Food, Incorporated. I recommend it to anyone, especially to anyone who has a cat that drinks a lot of water or has chronic health problems.

Have you ever wanted to read a good romance with a little tragdey mixed in that will knock your socks off? Well, "Reach for Tomorrow " will by Lurlene McDaniel does just that. The main character in this book is Katie O'Roark. Katie is a college student with an athletic scholarship. She has recentally had a heart transplant.Which has changed her life dramatically.During her summers she attends the Jenny House. The Jenny House is a camp for kids with medical problems to go relax and meet people with the same problems. One summer Katie recieved a letter from The Jenny House. She was thrilled to know she was choosen to be a counselor. Along with some of her friend from the former years she has attened The Jenny House. Last year The Jenny House was burned dwom due to a fire. Katie was excited to know it was being rebuilt. Katie's ex-boyfreind, Josh Martel also is going to be a counselor. Being around Josh brings back so many memories and emothions that Katie just can't handle.

This book revels flashback and realistic detail. Some of the flashbacks that are mentioned are of when Katie was in the hospital and when her and Josh was still together. The realistic detail is amazing. For example, when Eric and Meg go for a canoe ride together the author gives details on everyhting surrounding then and what they do exactly. Also, the author uses a lot of humor in the book. Such as whe nthey have a tug-a-war challenge and the girls lose. They get pulled into a mudd puddle and Lacey says, " I've always wandered what i'd look like as a brunette.

This book is a really good book to read. When I started reading this book I didn't want to put it down. It shows realationships and friendships. If I had'nt read this book and someone had just told me about it I would read it in a heartbeat. That says a lot because i'm not one to read that much. So therefore, this book is a great book for romance and tradgey.

Best book ever!

Ok.....i have read all of the One Last Wish books and this one by far is the greatest!! Katie and Josh's ending was fantastic...i think Lurlene McDaniel should write more of the OLW books about Katie and Josh's future together...and Lacey and Jeff and Meg and Morgan. The book does leave you at a loss with what happend to Meg and Morgan, Jeff and Lacey, Eric, and Chelsea..it would be great to find out what happens to eveyone. I loved all of the other OLW books too! I couldn't put any of these books down they were great. And Lurlene McDaniel should defiantly write more books about OLW and Jenny House!!!

I really like romance novels. The way Lurlene McDaniel explains the character's emotions is unbeliveable! My favorite book by Lurene McDaniel is "Reach for Tomorrow," the second in this McDaniel series. It is about a girl named Katie and she goes to a camp where sick kids go to have fun. Katie meets up with a bunch of friends including her ex-boyfriend,Josh. When they saw eachother, they freaked out. Then she found out that he has been in an accadent and they didn't know if he was going to live. She and all the campers are all worried. She goes down to the chapel and prays for him. A couple of weeks later they got married in the chapel. Katie's favorite camper,Sara, was supposed to be in the wedding but....If you want to know what happens, read "Reach for Tomarrow." I really like the book "Telling Christina Goodbye," also by Lurlene McDaniel.

in my opinion, Reach For Tomorrow is Lurlene McDaniel's best book.It was great how she put in Eric, Megan, Sarah, and Morgan from the other one last wish books. The only OWL character missing was Dani from Mourning Song. I hope Lurlene writes a sequel that describes what happens to Josh and katie now that they're married, if meg and morgan stay together, and what happens to the other characters. YOU GOTTA READ ABOUT THIS FABULOUS JENNY HOUSE REUNION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
