cayenne, cinnamon, cumin, fennel seed, garlic and parsley.
Apple seed vinegar, cranberry , B12 and flaxseed oil help to flush
cholesterol. Lemons act as a detoxifier. Lamb acts to stabilizer
blood sugar, as well as salmon and whey protein.
Other fat flush foods are fresh veggies,asparagus, broccoli, cabbage,
cauliflower, jicama (potato and apple cross) and cucumber.
The acquisition would be perfect to supplement any formal diet plan.
As such, it would be a good value for the price charged.

A fine balance of personal anecdotes and scientific infoReview Date: 2003-11-16
On page 74, for example, he refers to a 1995 study conducted by Erka Friedmann, a professor at the Department of Health and Nutritional Studies at Brooklyn College. She recruited 392 patients who had suffered heart attacks and were part of the Cardiac Arrhythmia Suppression Trial. Of these, 87 owned dogs and 282 did not. A year later, only one of the dog owners had died, while 19 of the non-dog-owners had passed away. In other words, people who own a dog are far more likely to be alive a year after having a heart attack.
Why is this? Many reasons are given in the book: dog owners get more exercise, they take better care of themselves because they feel responsible for the dog, they relax while petting the dog, they are less lonely because of the dog, etc. Other studies have shown that the act of stroking an animal's fur lowers the human's blood pressure like a form of meditation.
As a Jewish educator reading this book, I could not help but reflect on the fact that, compared to the general population, far fewer Jews have pets. In the Orthodox and Hasidic communities, especially, it is rare to see a dog in the house. One reason is because dogs were used to track and kill people during the Holocaust and other persecutions, so they have bad associations for many Jews. I understand this. Still, I found myself wondering how many of those 282 non-dog-owners in the Brooklyn College study were Jewish. (Brooklyn has a high percentage of Jews.) Are we allowing Old World fears about dogs to deprive us of a valuable form of therapy?
The pet doesn't have to be a dog, however. Cats (of which I have ten!) are equally therapeutic. So are other species, such as birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, etc. Even watching a tank full of fish can help a person to relax. The important thing is the Bond between the animal(s) and the human(s). Reading this book confirmed in a scientific way what I have always believed in my heart: this special Bond is a healing gift that God designed into the very fabric of creation.

Highly readable, but no ground-breaking or thought-provoking stuff...sort of East-West synthesis of healthy living!Review Date: 2008-12-18
by Ilchi Lee & Dr Jessie Jones;
I reckon most of us have readily accepted brain vitality from the standpoint of "use it or lose it".
The joint authors of 'In Full Bloom: A Brain Education Guide for Successful Aging' have however come up with a new mantra:
"Use more of it or lose everything!"
In fact, the foregoing book is the lead author Ilchi Lee's second book, which I am reviewing.
His earlier book is 'Principles of Brain Management: A Practical Approach to Making the Most of Your Brain', which I have already reviewed on Amazon.
In a nut shell, 'In Full Bloom' reiterates the lead author's five-step 'Brain Education System Training (BEST)' methodology, originally featured in the earlier book, which seeks to enhance human potential through a variety of mind-body training methods.
Apparently with the timely participation of Dr Jessie Jones, an expert in gerokinesiology (the specialised science of the ways in which exercise & aging interact), the new book now amalgamates the physical & mental activities into a more wholesome holistic program designed to promote & sustain successful aging.
The book is obviously targetted at senior adults, even though many of the exercises illustrated in the book are applicable to both the old & the young.
As a dedicated practitioner of Brain Gym for more than fifteen years, I am already familiar with quite a number of the exercises, which seem to be simple variations of what I have learned & applied over the years. The 'Cook's Hookup', known as 'Wrist Twist' in the book, is a case in point.
All the mind & body exercises in the book have been dove-tailed to suit the original five steps of 'BEST' as envisaged by the lead author Ilchi Lee: Sensitising, Versatilising, Refreshing, Integrating & Mastering.
Again, I must say that there are no ground-breaking or thought-provoking stuff, especially if readers are already familiar with the pioneering work of Arthur & Ruth Winter, Dharma Singh Khalsa, Lawrence Katz, Andrew Weil, just to name a few.
Interestingly, from the standpoint of building posture, strength, flexibility, balance & endurance of senior adults, I have noted that there are many parallels in the recommended fitness exercises with the work of clinical physical therapists Marilyn Moffat & Carole Lewis, writing in their book, entitled 'Age Defying Fitness: Making the Most of Your Body for the Rest of Your Life'.
Nonetheless, what I like most about the book is the reasonably vast collection of well-illustrated integrated exercises for mind & body, mostly drawn from a variety of complementary & alternative domains, a sort of East-West synthesis.
For me, I generally concur with the soundness & validity of the principal premises of the authors, as exemplified here:
- we have the power to control at least 70% of our aging process through the lifelong choices we make in diet, exercise, mental health, learning & relationships;
- we can make proactive, conscious choices to help our bodies & brains remain healthy & vital into our senior most years;
- more importantly, our brains are infinitely adaptable; physical wellness, lifestyle, weight, diet, & exercise are far more significant factors in long term brain health than genetics or age;
- best of all, age is not a choice; healthy living is;
Luckily, to my pleasant delight, the nutrition aspect - food & your brain - is touched on in this book, which I have highlighted as "missing" from the earlier book.
In my view, the two authors have appropriately ended the book with a great 'Afterword: Embodying the Jansaeng Lifestyle'. (Jangsaeng is a Korean word that roughly translates as long life vitality in respect to the passage of time.)
The 'Walking Yourself Young: Jangsaeng Walking' as illustrated in the Appendix is a good take-away, at least from my perspective.
It appears that Adrian Yeo aka Dr Yeo Ning Hong, author of 'T.H.E A2Z Diet', which I have already reviewed earlier, has shared the same idea of a walking journey of 10,000 steps in order to increase general fitness.
There is also an interesting 'Senior Fitness Test' at the back of the book.
To end my review, all I can say is that, if readers are looking for a highly readable book that integrates &/or combines the wisdom of Western processes & Eastern practices on the fountain of health, happiness & peace, then this book will do you a great favour.

During his 30's and 40's, he was always complaining about his health and the aches and pains that conveniently kept him home from work and was also a good excuse to avoid keeping in touch with friends and family. He spent too many days going from doctor to doctor and hospital to hospital, throughout his life, only to get the same answers to all the tests he subjected himself to. The tests were all negative, but this `friend' was not convinced that there was nothing wrong with him.
This `friend' was living a self-fulfilling prophecy. He had used his failing health as an excuse for so long that he had convinced himself that he was really sick. Instead of being happy that all the test results were negative, he complained that the doctors could not find the problems, which made him feel sicker.
Finally at age 58, this 'friend' went to see a doctor who happened to be of Korean origin. After another round of tests with still negative results, this doctor told this 'friend' that he was in good health, in fact, he was in very good health. The doctor recommended that he should get into an exercise and diet program before long or his health would start to deteriorate. The doctor suggested that he should look into a Yoga program which is both physical as well as educational.
So this `friend' found a Dahn Yoga Center only a few blocks from his home. He gathered enough courage to go upstairs and speak with the Instructor. After a 20 minute initial exam, the instructor was describing all the ailments this 'friend' was experiencing, and he was right on. After an introduction to the Yoga exercise routine, this 'friend' attended his first Yoga class the same evening. Although he was always skeptical and doubting everything in his life, something about the Yoga class made him feel different. He continued with the classes and participated in educational programs called B.E.S.T.
The instructor recommended the he read a book named; In Full Bloom: A brain Education Guide For Successful Aging, by Ilchi Lee and Doctor Jessie Jones. This book helped this `friend' to understand how he was creating his own problems and how to start to correct his physical and mental balance back to a healthy body and mind.
If you didn't guess by now this `friend' is really me. At age 58, I am now able to realize that my negative outlook was causing my aches and pains. It all took place in my head. For over 25 years my constant complaining and whining brought myself and everybody around me down.
Just to be able to write this story shows how much I have changed. In one year I lost 14 lbs., my aches and pains have gone away, and my attitude has changed from negative to positive.
But writing this story serves another purpose. If anybody reading this story has the same or similar attitude, I urge you, I'll even beg you, don't wait for your life to pass by without changing how you feel. Get a copy of: In Full Bloom, and / or visit a Yoga center near you. You owe it to yourself to enjoy the rest of your life. It's never to late to change.

I do enjoy the current plan I am on but I love that I can add aspects of other LC plans to my lifestyle. This book will also help you set yourself up for success. Plus you can't beat the low price.
Surprise! Bowden is an outstanding writer and researcher Review Date: 2007-03-21
Don't let Jonny Bowden's picture drive you away from the book. The back cover shows a man that seems too strong to be smart. Yet Jonny has the gift of writing. All his book is well-referenced, interesting, and a pleasure to read.
Bowden certainly did his homework. Before writing his book, he read everything there is to read. When he quotes or criticizes a book, he does it with knowledge, authority and style.
I noticed that some Amazon reviewers behave as if they were book salesmen. I won't do that. I believe this book is not for everyone. This book has a wealthy of information that might intimidate superficial readers. But if you are serious about lowcarb diet, or if you want to be educated about it, this book is a treasure.

Magick meets ReikiReview Date: 2008-12-21
Christopher Penczak weaves together his training as a Witch and as a Reiki Master (in Usui and Shamballa lineages)in order to bring us a book that will stretch our minds and make us question what we "know" to be Reiki.
Included is all the essential information as to what Reiki is, how it can be used, and the work that is done at each level of attunement. In fact, Penczak devotes a chapter to the history of Reiki and one chapter for each of the levels of attunements. But he goes beyond the traditional Reiki information, and dives into the intersection of Reiki and magick and how these two amazing practices can be brought together.
As a Reiki Master, I recommend this book to anyone wanting to know more about Reiki.
It should be said here that books on Reiki are fairly useless unless you are attuned as a Reiki practitioner. If you are not attuned you will be able to get an idea of what Reiki is and one of the versions of our history, but the practical hands on information is only accessible for the attuned.

As a Level II practitioner this would have been helpful.
Keep them coming, please...Review Date: 2008-04-03
After that, I found myself attracted to DM Kraig's "Modern Magick". The one thing that bothered me was the lack of Eastern inclusion in Western ceremonial magick. I felt pulled toward magick overall, but did not want to see my Reiki attunement and knowledge go to waste.
One day, at a small local bookstore, I saw the purple cover and title "Magick of Reiki". It was love at first sight. I've scrubbed some of the symbols against some of the Hebrew letters and symbols of Kaballah and found some striking resemblances, particularly with "The Ark", one of the symbols found in the Appendices of MoR.
This book, combined with another book about generic magickal training such as "Practical Magic for Beginners" by Brandy Williams, or "Initiation into Hermetics" by Franz Bardon, will have you turning your healing Reiki into a full-blown spiritual ascension system.
Thanks Chris,
Sean

The statistics and studies cited, and information contained, are invaluable in understanding how we came to be a formula-feeding society. And they are the nuggets of how we can reverse that situation. Inform yourself! And you'll begin to be able to inform others, too [given opportunities]. I'm amazed how many people don't recognize the duplicity of formula companies in their product marketing, here and in the Developing World.

There are heartbreaking tales of the number of babies who were killed by artifical feeding.
I cannot reccomend this book enough! Read it before you have children, it will make you see formula (and the Nestle corporation) in a whole new light.
I wish this book were out of date and irrelevant!Review Date: 2006-03-23
Along the way, Baumslag and Michels include some really amusing sidelights like the invention of the stroller by a New York man, and its adoption by Queen Victoria. One tiny snit: they're anti-swaddling, considering it a barbaric, backward practice that only occurs in backward, barbaric places and should be stamped out.

Its wounderful, so far between the two of us, we have lost 20 pounds in three weeks. Now its not all the cook book, we do have a cross trainer at home, a weight bench and two young ones that keep us moving. But the cookbook gives me a great place to find easy to make, healthy meals, that even taste good. (For the boys, we just give them an adult portionand let them eat as much as they like, this allows us not to worry about harming their growth.)The two week jump off menu is also a great tool, even if you don't follow it, it allows you an example of how to plan your meals. And planning has been our best friend, nolonger does it turn 7 o'clock at night and we end up running to pick something up cause, A) we didn't have anything ready to eat or b) there was nothing in the house to make something. I work often into the late afternoon, early night and have found several recipes that I can make ahead and leave just mini notes for my husband to finish up. For example, tonight we'll be having turkey burgers w/ cranberry dressing and oven baked french fries, everyhting is made up in the fridge, all hubbie has to do is put the fries in the oven and place the burgers on the grill, walla healthy easy and no McDonalds, Burgerking or Wendy's needed.
This cookbook, is not a mericale diet, it wont garentee you have the same success as my spouse and I, but it is a great tool, even if you just want a cookbook around with healthy low fat meals in it for when you feel the urge to cook something outside a box. But don't take my word for it, try it and see what you think.

some anomalies in the bookReview Date: 2002-09-28
First of all at the beginning of the book the dear doctor raves about how he has cured or helped curing a deaf person, persons with cancer and even a blind kid. How strange though that the doctor wears glasses ... what? he can cure blind people, but he can't even improve his own eyesight?? His "medicine" doesn't work for him?
Secondly, the doctor explains a few techniques in the book, one of which pertains to chanting various chinese number combinations and mantras in chinese. Depending on which part of the body you're healing there's a different number combination or mantra because each of these produce a different level of vibration when pronounced or chanted and thus help healing a particular part of the body. BUT suddenly there are two exercises where you have to chant "God's Blessings" and "God's Light"...well, so far for the theory about chinese words that produce different levels of vibrations. Why does he use english words now?...I have no idea. Why does he starts relying on God all of a sudden when he has been explaining throughout the whole book it's all about energy and energy movement?...I have no clue either. Do the english words induce a certain level of vibration...I doubt it, but let's say they do, then why can't he do the other exercises in english too. Why do we (=readers) need to learn number combination in chinese?
Albeit small thoughts, these thoughts make me a little sceptical towards believing the book's content, even although some of the exercises seem to work.
Maybe it's all in the head after all!
A New BelieverReview Date: 2002-05-07
I'd had the book for about 2 weeks, when a few days ago, I began having pain so severe that I was bedridden for 2 days. I decided to pick the book up and begin reading. I will admit that I was more than a little bit skeptical at first, but I made a conscious decision to suspend all disbelief and give the techniques a try. To my complete astonishment . . .It Worked! After doing the very 1st techinque for about 15 minutes, I was out of bed, pain free and full of energy, I even went out to join friends at a gathering. Knowing that I had been under the weather, they were all amazed to see me, and I couldn't stop talking about this amazing book.
I highly reccomend "Power Healing" to everyone. Try it, you've got nothing to lose, but your illness. I have only read the first few chapters, but I plan to continue the techniques until I am off all medications, and completly healed.
Thanks Dr Sha. ..
