While very different than Sabrina Ward Harrison's Spilling Open, I love it for many of the same reasons- it is an open journal to the world, filled with questions and nudges to honor one's calling and stop putting it off for a day that otherwise will never come. If you read the author's blog, then you know she is has a commitment to everdeepening the dialogue with herself and infusing honesty and adventure into her days. This journal is beautiful and tangible evidence of her journey. I find myself carrying it with me sometimes as its one of those books you can open to any page and a question or observation will pop out and encourage me to keep on keeping on and not surrender my own dreams and goals. Its the kind of book you keep out not only for its colorful beauty but because you know it has many messages inside that you don't want to forget.

Christine's writing is thoughtful and real. She conveys extraordinarily positive energy without failing to acknowledge that life is sometimes not all hearts and flowers. She shows palpable strength but doesn't hide her vulnerability - and wraps it up with delightful artwork. I bought copies for five of my closest girlfriends!

After having collected tons of books on creativity and artful expression over the years, I was pleasantly surprised and so very excited to see this specific collection of wisdom, authenticity, art, encouragement,
beauty and truth ~ which is loaded throughout Christine's book.

This is the one that says it all, speaks my language, and appeals both my spirit and my ever changing mind.

This is will be the gift I will be giving to everyone I know.
Its a slam dunk.

This book is very enlightening for anyone who has had polio and their extended family and friends. People who have had polio (and other diseases that affect muscles) need to understand that the traditional approach of "use it or lose it" is detrimental....they need to take a "conserve to preserve" approach to life activities. This requires a change in mind set....which, of course, is the hardest thing for these Type A personalities to accomplsh.

I am a polio survivor, having had both bulbar and spinal polio at age 10. I am one of the fortunate who learned to walk again and seemed to overcome many residuals. Like many polio survivors, I am someone who has refused to acknowledge that something is impossible - I rarely give up, and this quality enabled me to endure all the physical therapy that resulted in what passed for recovery. I have a trach scar, weakness in my right leg, left arm and a gradual onset of back pain and fatigue. I have had a post-polio assessment, but wasn't certain until reading this book that I should be resting more than overdoing exercise. I feel so incredibly lucky when I see the many who are back in wheelchairs - brings the whole nightmare of the iron lung, the rocking bed, the tube from my nose to my stomach for sustenance, the suctioning of the trach tube, etc., etc. I hope that everyone who has suffered will read this book and gain a better quality of life.

I highly recommend this book to anyone suffering with PPD, be it for the first time or a re-occurance. Dr. Bennett uses her own experience as well as those of her patients to connect with the reader. You'll feel a sigh of relief when you realize you're not alone and you're not crazy!

The Most Helpful Book on Postpartum Depression Available!

Review Date: 2008-09-26
This book is by far the most thorough, comprehensive, easy to understand and follow, helpful book available on the subject of PPD. From recognition of symptoms, understanding the different forms of PPD, seeking/receiving a diagnosis, treatment options (including conventional and complimentary) and much more, it lays out an easy to follow road map to recovery.

Since PPD has many different contributing factors and they vary from woman to woman, this book offers great advice on how to approach it from all sides, including how to improve nutrition, the importance of taking breaks, ways to change negative thought patterns, how to utilize the help of support people, and the importance of sleep. Dr. Shoshana Bennett is an expert in the field of PPD and has dedicated her life to helping other women. I started seeing an immediate improvement in my symptoms after putting some of her strategies to work, and I was suffering from very severe PPD/PPA.

I strongly recommend this book to anyone who thinks they (or someone they love) may be suffering from PPD, and also any healthcare professional that may encounter patients who are dealing with PPD. This illness is so frequently unrecognized, undiagnosed, and misunderstood, and Dr. Bennett sheds a guiding light on what is such a dark, confusing time for so many mothers. I've read so many books on the subject of postpartum depression since my journey with this horrible disorder began, and I only wish I'd found this one sooner. If you only buy one book about PPD, make it this one!

This book is a must have if you are suffering from postpartum depression. I am in recovery from this illness and believe me I read a lot of books on this subject as soon as I was diagnosed with severe postpartum depression. But Postpartum Depression for Dummies gave me more detail on the subject than the others. It helped me to understand the illness, what my options were, and how to deal with my feelings. It also helped my family know how to help me. It guided me step by step and encouraged me not to give up and that these awful roller-coaster of feelings I had were going to pass. And they did.

This book will give you hope and more!

Thank you to Dr. Shoshana Bennett for writing such a helpful and informative book. PPD is a very real and serious illness but most people don't know much about it. Brooke Shields thankfully brought it briefly into the public eye but unfortunately so many women have or will experience it. If you think you or someone you know is suffering from PPD, this book will absolutely help you in your recovery. It is packed with useful information, helpful, reassuring advice, and inspirational personal anecdotes. The book covers everything about the illness and also offers tons of relevant and important resources. This book helped me immensely and I recommend it for every mom to be!

I literally breathed in every word of this book! It is absolutely the most informative, up to date, thorough and readable book I have read thus far on postpartum mood disorders. As an RN who has worked with postpartum moms for 15 years, and as a mom who suffered from severe ppd, I am always eager to research new literature on this subject. This book reached my soul deeply on both levels - the clinical RN and the vulnerable mom. Thank you, Dr. Shoshana.

This book is packed with great insights, I wish I had this book many many years earlier!

As the title said, it teaches parents how to use the Scriptures to pray for their kids, but it goes beyond that. It raises parents' awareness of every aspect of children's life in order to strengthen their characters. This is not a long book, but I spend a lot of time reading it, many chapters more than once. It prompts me to re-examine my way v.s. the Bible way.

I'm in love with this book!

This book is an excellent way to begin praying passionately for the hearts and lives of your children. In the few short weeks that I've had it, I have already seen God respond to my prayers. God has also used this book to reveal parenting truths to me. He has done this b/c I am directly reading his word and relating it to my child's life and my relationship with my child. It has also helped me while correcting my child. When I pray with my son after correcting him, I am no longer using generic prayers; I am praying with him the same prayers I am praying in private. I love that! It feels much more authentic to correct him with the same prayers that I use to petition God's throne on his behalf.

In Christ!

This book covers a lot. The scriptures prayers are short and to the point.
I bought one book as a gift. After I had a chance to really look the book over, I ordered two more books. This book is a must for parents of any age. I am a grandmother and I will also be praying these scriptures for my grandchildren. Praying scripture is one of the most powerfull things we can do for our families. I am going to order more to have on hand to give to new moms.

Fun and light hearted view from Dora's perspective how fun and important it is to visit a dentist. This book familiarizes young ones with the experience of visiting the dentist, from the tools used to details of the entire examination. My son likes the story and asks me to read it often.

The concept is great, anything to help us brush the little ones teeth. For some reason I thought this was one of the books with thick pages that can stand up to the kids. It is not. Has thin pages that are destroyed in no time.

my son never let the dentist perform the full cleaning until after we read this book together. kids who like dora will most likely respond well on their next dental visit when they see dora acting like a big girl and letting the dentist examine and clean her teeth. i convinced my son that the dentist will make his teeth white and shiny like dora's - he fell for it like a champ! thanks Dora!! :-)

It's a good idea to start early so when that time comes to go the the dentist, your toddler will be willing to sit there just long enough to complete the checkup. Dora rocks when it comes to getting kids to do things like say words, jump up and down, whatever. A must have.

I loved loved this book....I checked it out at our local library and read it cover to cover in two days...Thats a record for me...I love that this woman took a sensible approach to her weight loss and over a course of 4 years, took the weight off. I find it frustrating when all the books tell of 100+ weight loss in a matter of 10-12 months...It made me feel lazy and inadequate to have lost 60 in a year...but not anymore having read this book. So many of the things she went thru I can relate to and know that there is light at the end of the tunnel gives me so much added motivation to keep doing what I am doing and it will pay off...It has already...Definately a book to read over and over again:)

This is a wonderful book showing some ups and more downs of the scale. This woman shows by example in her experience that if we don't follow a food regiment 100% you can still attain your goal of loosing weight. It is really refreshing to read that you can make a goal even when you slip away from it now and then, but you have to not give up. A good read hard to put down.

I bought this book on Saturday and finished it on Tuesday. I could hardly put it down. I also weigh what Sandra did and then some. This book was really motivating and I saw so much of myself in it so I could relate to it. It really gives me hope and shows me I am normal. I have been going to T.O.P.S. since April 2001 and have lost over 30 pounds and began backsliding. Now I see that may happen from time to time and I just need to stay motivated. Thank you for this book.I am a 37 yr. old widow with 2 children and really need to stay on track to be here for them and I think this book will help me.

I enjoyed the spirit with which this book was written. By the time I finished I felt as though I knew Sandra and her wonderful supportive family. I was cheering her on throughout the book. Not only did she lose weight for herself but she chose this time to help others and start up aerobic classes for women who feel left out at most health clubs. Her relationship with Richard Simmons made me smile. They had such mutual respect. It is wonderful that she accomplished what she did, helped others and at the same time wrote an enjoyable uplifting book.

In particular I liked the way she did not hold back her feelings or her problems. She tells it "like it is". I recommend this book even if weight loss is not the goal. She puts a positive spin on other things as well.

Not only is this book the bargain of the year, but it is literally the best diet book ever written. This lady tells her story from the beginning to what is going on today. It is like reading her diary. There are no gaps to the story-which I really appreciated. She tells you every step she took to lose the weight including what exercise she did along the way. She also tells you how your family and friends will react to your weight loss. For anyone who wants a "Step by Step" account of how a friend lost her weight, this is a "must" read. After reading Sandra's book, you feel like you are her friend. Very inspiring with an honest approach to weight loss. I can't say enough about this book!!

What I love most about this book is that it takes something very powerful and breaks it down to its most simple element. If you're busy, you can read the affirmation within a minute and have the big picture. I like this because it helps me to use these teachings daily.

I have been a fan of Dr. Beckwith since the Secret and was happy to see that a new Secret book, The Secret Daily Teachings, has been released. This book also has powerful ideas, broken into daily affirmations which are quick to integrate within your life.

I am so thankful to find books such as Spiritual Liberation, which I feel are more accessible than HUGE books which take forever to read and are almost written in a riddle.

Liberating and Powerful!

This is an incredibly powerful book. Each chapter has an affirmation and reminder of how to live the eternal teachings Rev. Beckwith shares. The last chapter on the Dark Night of the Soul was timely and resonated with what I've been going through for several years. He describes the journey the soul takes for liberation, and shares his own experience throughout the book. The feelings I'd experienced were deeper than despair and depression, although that was part of it. Out of this came compassion, love and surrendering to the peace of the soul so that I may be there for another. This is what Agape's teachings embody, and Michael does it joyfully, powerfully and with inspiration. I highly recommend Spiritual Liberation. It's what we all came for - and here are tools to make it a reality. The rest is up to us. In love and gratitude - Rev. Malika, Center for Spiritual Enlightenment

If you have ever heard Michael Beckwith do a 'talk', then you know exactly what I mean when I say.....The free flowing spirit that comes from his lips when he speaks has been captured into text and placed on the pages of this book. I truly feel lifted as I read the chapters, embodiment and affirmations he has written in his effort and commitment to spreading the awareness of Truth.....the activation of your soul....your true potential.
He describes a 'spiritual warrior' as "a person who breaks through inner borders discovering new dimensions of an expanded way of being and is committed to spiritual awakening and courageous enough to make choices based on their commitment."
Imagine if we were all 'spiritual warriors'? This is not about religion, it is about love...about recognizing and rediscovering our greatness...our contribution to complete the amazing picture. We each are a piece of the whole.
Im not one to 'push' my way of thinking on anyone, but Spiritual Liberation coupled with Life Visioning Process will be under a lot of Christmas trees this year :) Both have had a tremendous impact on my soul.

This is the most outstanding book I have ever read. The pictures, the information, it could not have been written better. Anyone would love this book. Those who are in search of unique pictures would find this book invaluable, likewise those who are in search of information, facts, nowhere else seen loss of property claims would too find this book invaluable. Upon seeing this book in the book shop (I did not buy it here) I gave it absolutely no second thought and regardless of price bought it. I am a Titanic historian and I'm picky about the books I buy, and this book is just about the best book in my collection. Don't hesitate, buy it, you will not regret it.

I found this book in my local library and took it out to read. However as soon as I got it home and looked through it I was enthralled by the pictures. The text was fairly standard fare although some of the earlier chapters had interesting info concerning the planning and construction of Titanic. The pictures steal the show and they made up my mind to buy this book for myself as such pictures need to be looked at and digested over months and years rather than the few weeks one has with a library book. If you have any interest in Titanic - BUY IT.

I must say this is the most comprehensive book on the Titanic I have yet seen. Every facet of the liner's history from its origins to the wreck exploration is covered. Each chapter includes pictures of everything connected to the ship. Anyone with any interest in Titanic at all should have a copy.

I did think the authors could have done better with their chapter on the sinking itself though. As it is they wrote little text and tell the story through picture captions! It is as if a book on the Kennedy assassination covered details of the flight to Dallas and then said little about the shooting itself. I also feel the authors were a bit too soft on Lord of the Californian.

This book is a jem. It describes the use of TCM in the treatment of traumatic injuries whether from sports, martial arts or accidents. The herbal infromation is second to none as is the explanation of TCM theory and injuries. The acupuncture is okay and parts of it are useful even though Rheumatology in Chinese Medicine has much better acupuncture for joint problems.
All in all, a very important book for any serious practitioner of Chinese Medicine.

I especially like Mr. Bisio's non-dogmatic approach. For example, many Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner's refuse to use ice based upon their principles of TCM. Tom's attitude is - use what works with the understanding of possible draw backs. This respects the reader's intelligence to come to their own informed decision.
The resources appendix is extensive and useful.
I plan on using several of the formulas in my massage and martial arts businesses for myself and clients.

Carmen Leal understands that even the most loving, committed caregiver experiences a sense of isolation and exhaustion. The Twenty-Third Psalm for Caregivers reflects her sense of empathy. She has walked in those shoes, and writes: "A caregiver's job often seems thankless as we bathe, feed, comfort, fight battles, cut through red tape, and give direction. I'm sure our heavenly Father, our Caregiver, often feels His job is thankless as He cares for us."

Fifteen stories represent fifteen distinct facets of God's own character as He lovingly and gently shepherds us, including The Shepherd Who Cares...The Shepherd Who Directs...The Shepherd of Peace...and The Shepherd Who Heals. Carmen shares stories of her own caregiving experience, as well as the experiences of others who have walked this long, tiring road. Through it all, she weaves a golden thread of hope and healing. This is book 1 of an exciting new series by Carmen Leal. Beautifully designed and small enough to slip inside a purse or briefcase, it's inspirational reading at its best. Even for those who are not living the life of a caregiver, The Twenty-Third Psalm for Caregivers offers a beautiful glimpse into God's heart, and how completely and personally He loves us all.
