Essential Reading for any parent of a teenReview Date: 2008-10-20
As your child begins to change going into adolescence, this should be required reading. It illustrates both your childs behaviour and teaches you how to parent in such a manner that your message actually gets across and does some good. If you want to stop pushing your kid away and start reconnecting with the child that you love, read this book. It is not magic, it does not work overnight, it takes a good deal of energy, but if you follow the ideas, in 3 to 4 weeks, you will see a dramatic change in the relationship you have with your child.
PS It does make you take a very hard look at yourself in the mirror as to how much respect you are required to offer your teen and how you discipline and parent.
Thank YOU!!Review Date: 2008-09-14
I am now in counseling to assist me in changing my parenting style and my child will start with her own counselor soon. It is my sincere hope that between the advice of Dr. Bradley, through his book and website, and professional counseling we can get our relationship back on track. Like every parent all I want is for my child to grow into the best person she can be. Someone with compassion, respect for herself and others, goals, etc.
Thank you, Dr. Bradley, for this lifeline when I thought I was drowning in a sea of confusion, disrespect, personal attacks from all sides, and a growing chasm between myself and my child. Only time will tell what the outcome will be, but I believe we have made a good start. Our home is peaceful again. We laugh together and enjoy each other's company again. She is more respectful of the home boundaries and less prone to sulking because she didn't get her way.
I highly recommend this book.
Life changing tools--a must read!Review Date: 2008-07-31
What I can tell you is that parenting teens can be HARD. We all know parenting is the hardest job in the world and parenting teens is the hardest part of parenting. Michael Bradley's book, "Yes, Your Teen is Crazy!" is worth its weight in gold. I have read it and I recommend it very highly. (Read the whole book, not just parts!)
Bradley supports you with stories that let you know you are not alone in the struggle to grow your teen safely. He uses humor and he doesn't hold any punches, he tells it like it is even though it may be hard to hear.
Be ready for some self-examination. We are doing our best to grow our teens but in the process we are meant to grow as well. You may need to heal some of your own wounds from the way you were raised. You may need to develop new parenting skills. The good news is that you CAN do this. You are not alone. Yes, your teen is crazy AND you can get through this in spectacular ways.
One of the things Bradley wrote that is really sticking with me and that I've shared with a lot of other parents already is that your shining moments as a parent are not the happy, easy times. They are the challenging times when you rise. If you can stay calm in the face of insanity, those are your shining moments as a parent.
Read this book from cover to cover and then do it again as needed. We all fall on our face as parents AND we can get up and try again and do a little better each time.
Big blessings for a great relationship with your teen!

What these books and DVD's can give you is a working knowledge of how to draw the symbols and the process of attunements both receiving and giving. The pictures are very easy to follow and detail hand positions and how and where to draw the symbols for passing on attunements. As for the complaints for not having the traditional hand placements he clearly states the philosophy behind his reasons to give treatment to specific places of the body and why. This made sense to me and as I know every practitioner is not the same. Getting the traditional placements online is easy.
I also felt the attunement dvd's or video's Steve Murray has available are amazing. They are wonderful, life altering, and being absolutely blessed experience. Reiki is for everyone willing to learn and he provides it. Thanks for not coloring inside the lines.
Namaste.

Empowering!Review Date: 2008-08-28
I am by nature open minded but cautious. I read Steve's website top to bottom and was inspired by the truth as I read it. It resonated with something deep inside me. I was very drawn to his openness and perspectives on Reiki and decided that this was the right path to follow. I have not been disappointed at all!! Very congruent in all his writing and his mission statement.
His DVD's and books empower you on whatever level you are interested in learning. He is a true teacher. You can read it, see it and feel the energy.
Thank you so much Steve for all your insightful information and for sharing all your knowledge with everyone in an affordable way. This was a smart investment for me. I am truly grateful and much more knowledgeable.

This is the ultimate Boy Scout manual for adults, a real treasure trove packed with knowledge from China, Japan, old world and the natural world. Illustrated beautifully and with a huge index (41 pages), which is important, because the information in this book is packed in tight and dense. There is so much in this book that the problem becomes finding it, and that's where the index shines.
This was a delight to read and continues to be an important reference for me in the years since I first found it. This is a must-have for my library, and I have given many copies to my relatives and friends as gifts.
Welcome back old friendReview Date: 2008-10-12
It is an informative book with many tips that I still use today. For example, when on holiday I always take two wallets, one as a working and decoy wallet and I never take out my real wallet in public spaces. While reading Shen Ku there it was. Zeek explaining why I should do that! I obviously took his suggestion to hart.
There are other nuggets such as dietary advice and what to eat when you have diarrhoea etc etc. The book even shows you how to do CPR with a bit of added wit to make sure you remember. This is a fantastic read and yes there are comical sketches but the knowledge provided by Zeek will stand you in good stead for life.
Fantastic book written in a witty and infomative way.
One copy for the coffee table- another for the evacuation kit.Review Date: 2008-07-15
This Zeek person has attempted to empty the contents of his brain into a book- if this is everything he knows how to do I would be impressed. Its no biography, but a collection of knowledge- knowledge lost to most people, knowledge that you didn't know you wish you knew. The illustrations have a definate style to them- you can enjoy them as art, but they all have a purpose- to demonstrate an explanation or to make you laugh.
I am an English teacher in Japan, and some of my high-intermediate or higher coworkers and students have bought it after I brought it in on a slow day for my own entertainment. It's written in such small chunks with so many illustrations, that non-native speakers of an intermediate or high level can easily enjoy it.
You can use this book as a springboard into many other areas of interest- read one little idea of his a day and see where you can take it! This book will remain interesting for YEARS and is well worth the money.
Quirky and fun!Review Date: 2008-01-24
The illustrations are wonderfully detailed and the how-to pics are somehow instructionally explicit and simple to follow without being cluttered and illegible.
Part comic book, part philosophy, part mystery, and all fun. Don't take it too seriously, but enjoy the ride!

He was my friendReview Date: 2007-12-01
I'll never forget the hatred the spewed from the city of Kokomo against him. It was such a devastating blow to his well being. Not only did he have this death sentence, but the entire town was treating him worse than what you would treat a pig going to slaughter. I am not joking. I remember seeing him at the skating rink one day, it was a time when he wasn't as sick so he was able to be a kid. I went up to him to give him a hug because I hadn't seen him in so long and he said, "You want to hug ME?" He was shocked that someone would want to touch him. That's how bad it was.
Read his book. He is the reason people with AIDS are accepted now. This friend of mine had more courage than anyone I have ever met.

This is a heartbreaking book, but it's worth it. After you're done reading the book, donate money to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Another heartbreaking story on their site explains why they use roses on a lot of their promotional materials. A mother on the Board of Directors who had several kids with cystic fibrosis, was overheard by her toddler son on a phone call. He was too young to understand what she was saying, and too young to know he had a fatal disease, so he asked his mother what "sixty-five roses" meant. Many children now call CF "sixty five roses" and that's why the CF Foundation uses rose imagery.

Loved it and hated itReview Date: 2006-09-13
I mostly loved this book; I love how well Deford delves into the psychological aspects (of ALL the family) of having a child in the house with this disease. I can easily picture in my dealings with my own daughter many of the conversations with Alex he relates.
There are two things I disliked. One is that he really over-makes Alex to be a saint. Everyone says my daughter is so sweet and so good at taking her medicines and therapy and yadda yadda, but would you ever say the OPPOSITE to a parent with a sick child? My daughter is still a toddler and no saint, but Deford leaves out most of the day-to-day "normal" parts of her life that would show her regular humanity instead of her sainthood.
Secondly, It became obvious at times that Deford was, unfortunately, projecting some of his own thoughts, feelings, and memories onto Alex's actions. I do not blame him for this one bit, considering the great devistation it is to lose a child and then try to write about it. But for some reason it really annoyed me.
Overall an excellent book, and I recommend it to any parent with a newly diagnosed child struggling through the emotional and psychological steps of accepting CF. You find out that you are not alone in your many confusing thoughts. I only wish he had perhaps been a more religious man, and touched on the acceptance of this disease from God.

Even if you are not an IC patient but love one, I also think this is a must read. It will give you a much better idea of what your loved one has or is or will go through. My husband is reading it now, and my mom is reading it after him.
I will most definitely try some of the things she talks about in the book when it comes to having a toxic body and cleansing it. At this point I'll do anything to get rid of the pain. I have found (like mentioned in this book) that drinking some water with a half teaspoon of baking soda in it actually helps! I will most certainly try other things she had to offer!
A must read for anyone dealing with ICReview Date: 2007-10-06
I haven't tried all the things Catherine has done to be able to live her life IC free, but I learned so much from her, another IC paitent, not a doctor or a nurse or a friend who happened to read about the next "cure all" treatment I should try. I am trying to get my disease under control and I am anxious to try out her suggestions. I hope to be where she is now one day with my disease gone (and she can even drink Orange Juice again!); nothing else I've read even gave me hope that it is even possible.
If I've learned anything in the 3 years it took to get dianosed and the year I've been trying to deal with having IC, I have learned no two bodies are just alike and what hurts one IC paitent may not hurt another, and what heals one IC paitent may not heal another; but it's worth a shot.
The bad parts of this disease are written in such a way as I felt all she was feeling, the lowest of the lows and the lonliness that comes in the middle of the night when you wake again for the 10th time in a night to go to the bathroom, but it is balanced with the good of seeing life go on; and not just go on, but thrive and flourish and most importantly heal.
Thank you Cahterine, your words blessed me.
