"Create Your Own Destiny!" by Rachel Madorsky I had read with a big curiosity.

My attention to the book brought not the title but the introduction of the author intrigued me to it. Began to read, I penetrated into each chapter with the big interest because understood, that the book is written by the person having an enormous life experience and knowledge, not speaking about authors gift. I absolutely felt, that the author knows, about what she writes, and that she transfers to mankind knowledge with open heart and love. Each one chapter is a source of eternal wisdom.

Expression and the title of the book: "Create Your Own Destiny!" are not simple words, but they giving a significant offer: Everyone born with the right of freedom of a choice to create own destiny.

I was glad I bought this book.

I am a big proponent of alternative and natural medicine. I think that every body possesses the ability to heal itself and it is only to up to each individual to discover and tap into that ability. Western medicine is necessary in emergency situations, but it seems that it is only in its infancy when in comes to chronic diseases and disorders. It's about time individuals like Rachel started sharing their gifts and abilities. Rachel's book gives us a unique insight into the mind and techniques of a healer, knowledge very important for physical, mental, and spiritual health, but especially in those chronic, incurable (by western medicine's standards) disorders and diseases.

Great book for those eager to learn and those ready to create their destiny.

Awesome an enlightening experience!

"Create Your Own Destiny! Spiritual Path to Success" is a unique work

This book acts as an enlightening experience that the reader can use in his quest for the truth. No individual can truly heal until he has learned how to live with natural laws.

This book has extremely helpful information and guides readers to action. The author shares with the reader her secret knowledge, unveiling all details of her craft, calling for cooperation. The book depicts her trust and deep sympathy for people. She has the most sincere desire to help and - like a child - opens her soul, not just depth of her skill and art, confident her trust is not misplaced. .

"Create Your Own Destiny!" encourages readers to reconstruct their lives by reconsidering and changing their outlook. The author gives practical advice that is easy to follow that will help any person who wishes to be cleared spiritually and physically to live life to its fullest.
Through her techniques she helped me to empower myself.

I was fascinated by this book and this book should be on the desk of everyone for guidance and assistance.

I highly recommend this book!

I would reccomend it for everyone

I love this book. It brings the wisdom into everyday life. Simple, nondogmatic, loving, and practical.
This is one of the single best books I've seen for mind, body and spirit. Clear and concise, it exudes kindness, gentleness, and love. And it has greatly helped me and many people I know in dealing with every aspect of life.

I was fascinated by Rachel's personal accounts of her past healings. I never realized all that is involved in spiritual healing and how Rachel's experiences have taught her so much knowledge of the body, spirit, mind and the entire medical field. She is truly a professional in this field.
I've read a couple other books about spiritual healing and they have similar techniques and outcomes which relieved skepticism I had towards the spirtual healing practice. Futhermore, I recently attended a presentation by Rachel and I volunteered for a brief body scan. I was amazed at the energy I felt by her simply placing her palms near to my body. I was a skeptic before, but no longer.
I was also impressed by all the different spiritual techniques she covers from acupuncture to reading of the palms. Her illustrations and descriptions are easy to follow and understand and will make for a good reference.

I highly recommend this book.

I found this book on my own, after many trips to psych. evaluations, counseling, parent child interventions, etc., with the "best" hospitals and doctors in our area. None of them ever diagnosed our daughter with FAE. Once I read this book, I went back to those reports and it was glaringly easy to see all of the comments that pointed to FASD but were never linked to FASD. Because I was armed with examples and knowledge I was able to educate the doctors, teachers, psychologists, therapists, social workers and so on. My daughter got her diagnosis (along with her younger biological brother) and is now receiving the services the school district denied her because her IQ was a mere 7 points above that of a developmentally delayed level and she didn't have a diagnosis at the time of denial. God Bless Bonnie's courage, determination, love, hope and her neverending faith that we are exactly where we need to be right at this very moment with our children exactly as they are right now. AMAZING!

Great Read!

Bonnie Buxton's book, Damaged Angels, will ring true to anyone who has lived the life of dealing with a child who looks normal, but has "disconnects" in their life. After adopting "a visible child with an invisible disability" I valued reading about Bonnie's experiences with her daughter,Collette. Her up-to-date overview of the most current research on FASD was helpful in my journey with my daughter. I appreciated her openness and vulnerability in describing her mothering experiences.

I think every social worker should be required to read this book as part of their training. As a mother in distress, this book was a beacon in the fog for me.

The perfect mix of fact and real-life example

Bonnie Buxton does an amazing job in this book of thoroughly explaining the damage that prenatal alcohol exposure does to an unborn child's brain and how that plays out in real-life examples, without painting a picture that is dark and hopeless. We get to see these real families working hard to make good lives for their children, feel their struggles, grieve in their failures and celebrate in their successes. This is a beautiful book full of life and hope.

Mitchell's remarkable account of her relationship with David Touff reminds us, regardless of whether dementia is involved, to be respectful and mindful in our relationships with each other. This well-told story is inspirational and informative, and is of especially great use to anyone dealing with how to relate to anyone whose faculties are fading.

Marilyn Mitchell has done an extrodinary job depicting the life and heartwarming stories of David Touff. Marilyn focused on herself just enough; not too much, but enough to let the reader understand her as the loving caregiver that she is. As the reader becomes acquainted with David throughout the book, they feel wrapped up in every emotion he experiences. My father has Alzheimer's and there is never "one size fits all" formula when it comes to caregiving. From the time I finished this book, I am still carrying David in my heart!

Marilyn is an extrodinary person and writer. She gave of herself far beyond what the average caregiver or family member could even imagine doing. David was blessed indeed to have had the years with her as his close friend.

I came to this delightful book from the perspective of a daughter helping to care for my dear mother in the last 5 years of her life with Alzheimer's. Oh, how I wish I had read the book 7-9 years ago for its insights about relating to someone with dementia. Yet I think readership of this book should not be limited to people interested in this growing health problem. The book is a guidebook to enjoying life more fully, especially in the city/area where you live, as the author and David did with the many field trip pleasures of Denver. If you feel that a key ingredient of a good story is how people transform one another through their relationships, you will find yourself instantly captivated by Marilyn's and David's encounters and ensuing bond. They each possess charm, wit, and intelligence. Marilyn has an endearing ability to put herself in David's shoes, trying to understand his shrinking world and helping him uncover his genius. Marilyn's gift for language and her perceptiveness gives this book an energy that carries you to the end and leaves you regretting you're on the last page. You counter the regret by sharing this gem with others.

Dancing on Quicksand was an incredibly inspirational book. Reading it has made me want to be a better person, listen more carefully, to love others unconditionally, to work harder at loving others where they are. In a culture where we want to get rid of anything difficult, it was refreshing to see what Marilyn Mitchell gained by sticking with David and loving him through his illness. Although this is a book about a person who has helped someone with dementia, it is far more than that. It is a book about what real love looks like. I am just about to open up my copy one more time and read it again. Thanks Marilyn for sharing this rich experience with us!

Great tooth fairy book written from the prospective of the tooth giver. My daughter really likes the notes and I like that the book is more challenging reading for her than what a typical tooth fairy book might be. We also have Durant's Dear Mermaid book (also with notes) which is also well loved in our house. Overall, a nice hardcover book for the money. Our mermaid book we have had for nearly a year has held up pretty well, but I wonder if they could consider reinforcing the envelopes that hold the little notes throughout the book.

I bought an extra copy of this book for my nephew. Only drawback to it is that it's written from the standpoint of a girl and it's pink! It's well worth it for the letters that are included in the book and the plastic 'fairy coin'. My kids still love to read it and do the paper 'cootie catcher' inside. The book does introduce the concept of other fairies, which I don't like. Seems to tend toward the mystical side of things and I'm a Christian. However, it gave me the opportunity to share my beliefs with my kids about such things. Great illustrations and a fun book overall!

We bought this book for my daughter when she was five or six and she adored it. It is a delightfully written book about a series of letters written by a girl who is reluctant to give up her tooth and the responses from the tooth fairy. The book is funny, charming and beautifully illustrated. It comes with little tiny letters written by the tooth fairy. My daugher is seven now and she still loves reading it.

Dog's Colorful Day is a delightful book for ages 3 through 6. It provides very specific learning opportunities in the areas of color and number recognition, as well as beatifully illustrated, fun pictures. At the conclution of the book, the child's visual memory is challanged with a color and number review. I am a preschool teacher and always have fun reading this book to my classes. I can highly recommend it!

A clumsy dog gets messy on his day outside. My girls love to read this book. As Dog obtains each new stain, they count all the previous stains and name all the previous colors. The end of the book gives children a chance to count to ten and to identify ten different colors. The illustrations are large, bold, and simple, making color identification easy. The illustrations are also given from a dog's eye view, which has my girls gleefully identifying every pair of shoes in the picture.

My son (now 4 1/2) knew his colors by the time he was two because he just LOVED this book. We used to borrow it from the library but I just bought it for my youngest who is now two and beginning to master his colors as well. It's such a pleasant, well written book great for all ages through kindergarten. There's not too many words per page with fun illustrations, making it great for a toddler. It touches upon counting to ten but the primary focus is colors. You won't be disappointed!

In addition to the other review I read, I would like to add that this book has a third component: sounds. There are 1) colors, 2) counting, and 3) sounds. Some of the sounds are splat and squish. There is a different sound for each spot. The other nice thing is a double page review of each spot's color and sound at the end before dog gets a bath.

The novel, The Dogs Who Came to Stay by George Pitcher depicts the lives of four beings, two dogs and two humans. It is a memoir written in honor of Lupa and Remus, two dogs that changed the lives of their owners and offer proof that animals have emotions as well as rational thought. George Pitcher describes how his life and the life of his friend Ed Cone were greatly influenced by these two very unique creatures. The book is full of funny as well as emotionally appealing anecdotes about their lives with the dogs. Upon beginning the book it is easy to think that it was the two dogs who gained the most by being adopted into the home of George and Ed. By the end, it is apparent that the human's lives were influenced just as much as the dogs were by this act of kindness.

In his writing, Pitcher is able to demonstrate and portray the obvious emotions, affections, reasoning, and personality that is contained within this being, the dog. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves dogs, likes to read a touching story, and especially to anyone who doubts that animals have and can display emotions.

This is a true tale of the stray wild dog, who looking for a place to have her imminent brood of pups, takes up residence under the shed of two middle-aged batchelor academics at Princeton. They slowly befriend her and coax her out to trust them and take food for the pups. Despite their busy lives she is greatly loved, and she and one of her pups become very much part of the family. The story is told very simply and lovingly. They have some entertaining experiences in French restaurants and aboard ocean-going liners. Recommended for dog-lovers everywhere, who will all relate to it strongly.

I stumbled upon this book in the library recently, and have since told all my friends they must read it!! I think the fact that it was written by a man made it even more special. It always surprises me when men show their feelings so openly and with total abandonment, eg: Nicholas Sparks, James Michael Pratt, to name a few... The love and devotion that these two Princeton professors had for these dogs was so intense. Their dedication to the animals was astounding and therefore reciprocated in great abundance. Anyone who owns a dog, has ever owned a dog, or needs to be convinced of the immeasurable experience of owning a dog, needs to read this book. It touched me more than any story of animal/person unconditional love and devotion that I have ever read. A must read!

It is a rare opportunity to see how people dressed in reality so far in the past. Fashion plates show the garment in its perfect form, portraits are idealized, and original illustrations change the proportions, whether purposefully or not, to fit the times of the artist, not that of the garment.

The pictures feature a range of people from different walks of life in different situations, and the reader can enjoy seeing these ordinary people in their clothes, whether dressed to impress or caught looking somewhat odd in ill-fitting garments or clothes that have crooked seams--the details are so telling!

The text dissects the pictures and explains costume of the era in detail, discussing the general trends, exceptions, class distinctions, and how the people in these old photos relate to all this. A Very good book for a costume historian.

Dressed for the Photographer has a wealth of beautiful images, and has informative and interesting text with each image. Both text and images show the realities of fashion during the era covered. We see how real people dressed, rather than fashion templates which were always more extreme version of the latest fashion.

I liked the descriptions of dresses remade from older dresses to keep up with fashion, as well as her description of how one can tell the dress has been altered. I also enjoyed the way she pointed out little details of outfits. I never would have seen those details otherwise.

I would have preferred a few more examples of upper-class women throughout the eras and middle-class women in the latter part of the 20th century. The reform dress was an interesting movement, but I believe the reform dresses are over-represented. But, overall, the book reflects the diversity of the people in the society very well.

To be honest, I haven't seen a better resource for someone who wants to know what people really wore from 1840-1900.

This is my favorite book of all time. I loved everything about it.. one thing is the fact that you can relate to the character so well, and it is like you are right there beside him.. but you can't help him in his time of despirate need. i feel so bad for him and his family, but mostly him.. i mean how hard would it be to have your little brother get sick and for a whole day think that it was your fault that you left him there on his stool alone, when you know darn well that you aren't suppost to, and then spacing out all day and having that be the only thing that you csn think of. i would be crushed. Then on top of that having your mom gone for weeks and a time and the first week her and your little brother are gone your father doesn't even talk to you let alone look at you.. and little did you know that your mother is calling him every night but your father isn't telling you the condition on your little brother.. that he really does have luekmia. But he deals with it pretty well with his music and stuff. that would be the way i would have to do it to.. because to Him and I music is everything. Anyway. i hope that everyone who can get their hands on this novel reads it... because this is truely an amazing book.

From the title, I was expecting a story about a hopeless junior high kid in a quest of girlfriend-finding. But the story turns out to be more about the relationship between the boy and his kid brother. And such a sweet story indeed.

The author manages to make the character realistic. I think the boy is a bit sappy at times, but hey, I never went through that whole experience of being a thirteen-year-old--having been born with a missing Y chromosome. Besides, the author is a middle school teacher. Dare I argue on how a thirteen-year-old boy should be feeling?

The little brother is so cute. I still laugh over the line: "Yeah, Steven! That's my brother!" (Or something to that effect.)

Overall, a very recommended reading.

It is unbelievable the response i received from my entire eighth grade reading class. This book was eaten up by all, including my very reluctant readers. As many of them said it was a book they could relate to. I used the book in all my classes and believe me many students were sad when we finished it. We did have one advantage. My students and I were fortunate enough to meet the author. He was an incredible down to earth person who freely shared his inspirations.

Athough the setting and events were unfamiliar, I felt a strong connection with the very human story of family and friendship. Stites gives a gripping and insightful portrayal of the struggle to move beyond suffering. Despite the difficulties encountered by the characters, Edgewise is an uplifting story because through the stuggle comes hope and promise. Once I started reading this book, I couldn't put it down, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a good read.

I bought this book yesterday and finished it in early hours of this morning. It is a great book that I couldn't put down. I love the relationship that is built between Simone and Satch. It was a joy to read. The author of this book is my 8th grade English teacher and it was a honor to have been her student and to be able to share in her joy of this novel.

A superb read...

Jan Stites' Edgewise is a compelling read and page-turner. She has insightfully captured how it feels being placed completely out of one's "comfort zone". Ms. Stites has artfully captured Simone's psychological unraveling and subsequent realization and healing while at Oakhill. Her blend of humor with tragic moments show that all of us have the capacity to heal and become better humans.

This novel explores the quiet agony of Simone, a self-destructive, middle-class, suburban teacher who ends up in a tough, inner-city psychiatric hospital. Although the book contains gritty details about Simone's desire to hurt herself through "cutting," it is also filled with humor, healing and an unforgettable cast of characters. It is the first book I've read that deals with this psychiatric condition. "Edgewise" is my book club's current selection and I look forward to discussing the many issues that this book raises.

Great, well-written, captivating book

This book captures your attention from the first page. It is a riviting story depicting a women's struggle to overcome the impact of adversity. It also does a great job of depicting the cultural and racial differences among the patients in recovery and the multiple emotional layers of the healing process.

Why? because it seems so much harder to convince people that EMFs really are a problem, and because their effects are often blamed on other factors. Read it for yourself and be educated on the subject so you can protect yourself as much as possible.

As an author of a book on a related subject (magnetic healing), I know firsthand how challenging it is to write in a user-friendly fashion about the complex subject of electromagnetic fields and their effect on health.

B. Blake Levitt's extraordinary commitment of time and effort has resulted in a work that makes this complex subject easy to understand. Not only has she succeeded in explaining the untoward health effects of EMFs, but she also gives her readers a look into the complex political and commercial forces that have led to our current state of affairs.

Faced with the potential of a cell phone tower being placed directly overhead in my high-rise apartment building, I used Ms. Levitt's book as a study guide and subsequently consulted her for additional background information. I have no doubt that this information was key in holding off the installation of the tower.

This book is a "must read" for anyone concerned about EMFs -- and everyone should be!

I am a research scientist with a background in psychosocial epidemiology who became interested in the impact of electromagnetic waves on physical, mental and emotional health when I was confronted with applications to construct telecommunications towers in our newly adopted home town. My ideas and information from physics courses were both rusty and dated. Moreover, in postgraduate work I had learned enough about environmental impacts on fetal and child development, neurological functioning, and sleep cycle disruption to be concerned. I wanted to efficiently come up to speed on theories about the waves' effects and peer-reviewed data that tested those theories. Ms. Levitt's book provided an extremely comprehensible and yet responsible orientation to the mechanisms by which electromagnetic waves operate, the research on their impact that was available as of its writing, and the political and economic influences of industry and governmental forces. PLEASE have her update it with the inclusion of the research of the last few years. Solid research findings are supporting her arguments at an escalating rate and they deserve to be disseminated. The public health hazards of unmonitored electromagnetic waves (especially in the rapidly proliferating rf frequencies) are real and an educated public is our best protection against their potential damage.

I am an MIT engineer (BSME MIT, 1978) and Author of When Technology Fails, and I highly recommend this book. Just like the title says, this is really the no-nonsense guide to evaluating the true hazards of EMF, and what you can do to control your local environment and personal habits to reduce your exposure to potentially dangerous levels of EMF. Written by an award winning nationally acclaimed science journalist, you can trust that the information in this book has been well researched and documented. If you are one of those unfortunate people who have developed Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity Syndrome (EHS), meaning that you feel ill around computers, wireless routers, and other high EMF electronics, then the actions that you will need to take, in order to feel healthy again, will be miles beyond those of the average person, and this book will help you to start on your road to recovery. Highly recommended!

This book is not written for the lay person. It should be listed as more of a reference manual.
